Via Ferrata – Les Agulles Rodones (K4-K5)

Les Agulles Rodones is Catalunya’s longest via ferrata and it is probably also one of the most beautiful ones. The via ferrata is classified as a K5, however, the difficulty of the path is closer to a K4; nevertheless, you need to be in good shape and know how to rappel to finish the whole thing.

All together the via ferrata counts 11 obligatory rappels, 8 nepalese bridges (the longest is 25 meters), and 1 zip line. The zip line is optional and can be omitted if you don’t have the necessary equipment. The way from the parking to the via ferrata,  the via ferrata itself and also the way back are marked with blue dots.

At the foot of the via ferrata you’ll see a sign, indicating that the via ferrata is closed. This is because the area is private property and the via ferrata has not been approved by the municipality. Even though the via ferrata seems safe enough, it should be done with caution.

There is only one short stretch torwards the end of the via ferrata (after rappel no. 8) that in my opinion can be considered a K5.  This section is called ‘desplome del mata hombres’ (trans. men killer overhang).

Difficulty: K4-K5

Duration: approx. 6 hours

Rappel: Yes (11 obligatory rappels), 40 mt. rope

Location: Santa Cristina d’Aro, Girona
